The SiOnyx IR Illuminator Set is everything you need to see with your SiOnyx Aurora night vision device, even in complete darkness. This infrared illuminator is specially designed for the CMOS sensor in SiOnyx night vision devices, delivering the perfect balance of color and brightness. The LED infrared illuminator has an invisible 940nm glow and an adjustable infrared beam angle from 4.5 degrees (focus) to 40 degrees (flood).

The IR Illuminator comes standard with a 1/4" threaded mount for attaching it to your SiOnyx color night vision device. This set also includes a Weaver/Picatinny mount, two rechargeable batteries with a charger, and a carrying case.

When do I need IR and when not?

Although SiOnyx night vision devices are equipped with highly light-sensitive CMOS sensors, some residual light (such as moonlight or starlight) is still required. In some situations, there may be no residual light at all, for example, in a dark house or in a remote forest in complete darkness. Therefore, additional infrared light may be necessary. This infrared emitter creates that extra light, which is visible through the night vision device but not to the human eye. This allows you to see.

However, there are also situations where IR is definitely not desirable, such as in airsoft or paintball. While the infrared light is invisible to your own eyes, your opponents can certainly see the light your IR emits through their night vision goggles. In these situations, you can, of course, use an infrared illuminator and switch it off when necessary.

How do I secure the infrared heater?

You can use the IR Illuminator in several ways, for example:

• On the tripod connection at the bottom of the SiOnyx Aurora night vision devices (mounting included)
• On any Weaver/Picatinny rail, such as on the side of your night vision rifle scope or on a helmet (mounting included)
• From your hand to provide extra 'light' when needed
