The gaiters, which are attached to the shoes or boots and to the legs with a strap, provide protection against branches, thorns and moisture from snow and wet grass, as well as against ticks and unwanted insects.
The gaiters are ideal if you are hiking through nature with your camera and want to keep your legs and feet warm and dry.
