Description

The Marumi Filter DHG ND2-ND400 is a variable neutral density filter with a diameter of 62 mm. Neutral density filters are available in various strengths, such as ND2 (1 stop), ND4 (2 stops), ND8 (3 stops), and so on. Marumi's variable neutral density filters consist of two polarizing filters that can rotate over each other, allowing for adjustment of the amount of light attenuation. A single variable neutral density filter can therefore replace a series of fixed neutral density filters, making it more practical. By turning the ring, you reduce the light from ND2 to ND400 (1 to 8 stops).

A gray filter is used as a filter for example to:

  • On bright days with lots of sunlight, weaken the light so that the shutter speed can be extended to capture movement such as the flow of water, see photo 3
  • On bright days with lots of sunlight, use a very large aperture to reduce the depth of field of a photo
  • On bright days with lots of sunlight, use an aperture further away from the diffraction limit, which will result in a sharper photo
