StudioKing Macro LED Ring Lamp Dimmable RL-160

The StudioKing RL-160 is a universal ring light with a power of 10W and a CRI value of 95+. Thanks to the included adapters, you can easily attach the RL-160 to your camera lens. With one simple motion, you can slide the desired adapter securely into the ring light. Then, it's a matter of seconds to attach the RL-160 to your lens. The RL-160 has a color temperature of 5600K. You can adjust the brightness between 10% and 100% in 20 steps. You simply attach the RL-160 to a 1/4-inch male thread. With the included adapter, you can slide the RL-160 onto your camera's hot shoe. The RL-160 is powered by 6 AA batteries (not included). A separate adapter cable is also included, which allows you to connect the RL-160 to a universal power adapter (DC 6-17 Volt, not included).

Application RL-160

The RL-160 offers several possibilities. When taking portrait photos, you can create beautiful circles in the subject's eyes (see example photo). The RL-160 also provides the right light for macro photography and photographing regular, smaller subjects. Because the LEDs are positioned around the lens, shadows in your photos are minimized. The LEDs emit their light at a 45-degree angle. This results in a fairly wide range; you can still see results even from a distance of several meters. The included adapters are suitable for lenses with a diameter of 49mm, 52mm, 55mm, 58mm, 62mm, and 67mm.

Differences between RL-130, RL-160 and MRC-80FV

The RL-130 is a truly basic ring light, used exclusively for close-up photography. Besides continuous mode, there's also a mode where light is emitted only when taking a photo, but this light isn't any brighter than regular continuous lighting. The MRC-80FV does emit a real flash when taking a photo. The RL-160 is the most powerful of the three and also has the longest range. The RL-160 emits only continuous light, eliminating the need for a separate controller. All the necessary equipment, including batteries, is integrated into the ring.
