There are many different variations of Mankala, but the basic rules are usually the same. I will give you a brief explanation of how to play Mankala. You will need a game board with two rows of six holes and two large holes at the ends. These are the Mankalas where you need to collect your stones. You also need 48 stones, which you distribute evenly among the 12 small holes. Each player has six holes on their side of the board. The goal of the game is to get more stones into your Mankala than your opponent. To begin, randomly choose a starting player. This player takes all the stones from one of their holes and distributes them one by one to the next holes, either clockwise or counterclockwise. This is called sowing. If you land your last stone in your own Mankala, you may sow again. If you land in an empty hole on your side, you may take all the stones from your opponent's opposite hole and put them into your Mankala. This is called stealing. Play continues until one player has no more stones on their side of the board. Then the other player takes all the remaining stones in their holes into their Mankala. The player with the most stones in their Mankala wins the game. This is a simple version of Mankala, but there are other variations. Environmental information about Mankala - Bean Game - Bamboo.
