WARNING! Read all safety information and instructions provided with the FKS 145 guide rail and the power tools you are using. Failure to follow the safety information and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury. • Keep this manual in a safe place for future reference. General Safety Information • DANGER: Disconnect the plug from the power source or remove the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments or changing accessories. Accidents can occur if the power tool starts accidentally. • Keep your work area clean and well lit. Untidy or dark work areas invite accidents. • Check that equipment and tools are functioning properly before starting work. Never use damaged or dull tools. • Remove any adjusting keys or wrenches before turning the power tool on. A tool or wrench left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may cause injury. • Use caution. Never operate a power tool while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. A moment of inattention can result in serious injury. • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment: hearing protection, safety glasses, and a dust mask if the work generates dust. • Wear appropriate clothing. Never wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep long hair, clothing, and gloves away from rotating parts. • Keep children and other people away from your work area while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control of the tool. • Keep unused power tools away from children. Do not allow persons unfamiliar with the tool or persons who have not read the instructions to use the tool. Power tools are dangerous when used by inexperienced persons. • The machine being used must comply with DIN EN 60745-1. Equipment manufactured after 1995 must bear the CE mark. • Use the tool only on wood and easily workable plastics. • The machine being used must comply with DIN EN 62841-5. • Use tools only for their intended purpose. • Ensure that the guide rail is used on a stable, level surface. • The guide rail must not be modified to allow other machines to be used on the rail. • Only use the mounting bracket supplied, not older versions or proprietary designs. • Regularly check that all screws on the mounting bracket are properly tightened. • Only remove the manual circular saw from the mounting bracket in the start/stop position (with the safety cover closed) and only after the saw blade has come to a complete stop. Safety information for manual circular saws • In addition to these machine-specific safety instructions, the safety instructions for the manual circular saw you are using must also be followed. • DANGER: Keep hands out of the cutting area and away from the saw blade. • Only use manual circular saws with a saw blade diameter of at least 130 mm and a maximum of 200 mm and a cutting depth of 40 to 70 mm. • Support long workpieces on the side of removal so that the piece is in a horizontal position; use, for example, a wolfcraft roller trestle (Art. No. 6119973). • Avoid overloading the manual circular saw. • Do not use sanding discs. • Connect a vacuum system to the circular saw (if available). • Use only recommended market-leading saw blades and select them based on the material being cut. • Always be aware that the workpiece can kickback and strike the operator. • Kickback is a result of improper saw use and/or application. It can be prevented by taking appropriate precautions, as described below. • Hold the saw firmly with both hands and keep your arms in the correct position to absorb the kickback force. Always stand to the side of the saw blade; never position your body in line with the saw blade. In the event of kickback, a circular saw can bounce backward; the operator should be able to control such a situation by taking appropriate precautions. • If the saw blade jams or you interrupt your work, always switch off the saw and hold it in the material until the blade has completely stopped rotating. Never attempt to remove the saw from the workpiece or pull it backward while the blade is still rotating, as this can result in kickback. Determine the reason for the blockage and eliminate it. • To restart a saw that is still in the workpiece, center the blade in the cutting opening and check whether the saw teeth are blocked in the workpiece. If the saw blade is blocked, it may free itself from the workpiece or cause kickback when the saw is restarted. • Do not use dull or damaged saw blades. Saw blades with dull or unsuitable teeth increase the friction in the narrow cutting opening, which can cause the blade to jam and kickback. • Do not use the guide rail for incisions. The cutting bed can be blocked by hidden objects, which can cause kickback. • Use the guide rail only for manual circular saws with the saw blade set vertically (90 degrees). • Never clamp the manual circular saw to the mounting bracket. • Make sure that the saw blade always runs parallel to the mounting bracket or the guide rail.
