Flat, two-piece rivets for decorating and securing various objects up to 2 mm thick, such as sheets of imitation leather, thin leather, and textiles. These can be attached using a riveting tool – item no. 406170. Depending on the material you want to decorate or join with the rivets, a 1.5 to 2 mm hole must first be made with hole punches where the rivets will be placed (except for knit fabrics). If multiple layers are to be joined, it is important that the combined layers are a maximum of 2 mm thick (this corresponds, for example, to four sheets of imitation leather stacked on top of each other). The riveting tool for connecting the two-piece rivets consists of a riveting tool and a metal rod. Place the riveting tool (with the curved side facing up) on a sturdy surface. Place the flat part of the rivet with the flat side facing the curved riveting tool. Punch the raised edge of the rivet through the perforated holes/layers and then place the rivet in the opening of the flat rivet. Secure the rivet with a hammer and the rod. Make sure the curved side of the rod is facing down towards the rivet for best results. You can also install the rivets in the opposite direction, i.e., by placing the raised edge of the rivet in the rivet gun and the flat part on top. Note: Rivets that are not properly joined together are likely not completely stable. In that case, try placing the rivet gun on a tabletop directly above the table leg.
