The two players compete against each other in a direct battle for the control of District Noir. There are 2 ways to win: through the various auxiliary troops of District Noir or through direct control over the 3 strategic locations in the city. In addition, a player must not only choose his own actions smartly, but also keep an eye on what his opponent can do.

Hoboken, New Jersey, 1954. You are a powerful leader of one of the greatest criminal organizations in the city and you fight with your competitor for areas and support, where you do not shy away from expanding your influence. District Noir is located in the center of Hoboken. Control over that neighborhood makes the big difference to seize power over the entire city.

In this tactical card game for 2 players you try to get the majority of different cards to score the most points. But you can also make an attempt to get hold of the 3 strategic locations of the city. In that case you win immediately.

The rules are very simple. You get 5 cards. When it is your turn, put a hand card in line or you take the last 5 cards that have been laid in line. The other player always has the same choice. But taking 5 cards is only allowed once per round. After that you always have to put a card in line.

The game continues until the covered stack is empty and all cards are played. The points are then counted. You get points if you have the most cards of a certain species and for complete sets of different types. There are also cards that immediately give plus or negatives. If you succeed in getting all 3 strategic locations in your possession, you win immediately and you don't have to count points.

District Noir is a very accessible card game for 2 players. The simple rules ensure that you are playing quickly, but you will soon find out that the choices you have to make during the game are a lot less easy!
