Instead of switching the light on and off with a switch button, lamps on and off based on movement. As soon as you enter the room, the lamps jump on for you. The motion detector is horizontal (for the room) and vertically adjustable (if you also go up a room inside, such as at the stairs). The lights go out automatically when you have left the room.
