By cleverly improving your village, you increase your beer and bread production. But beware, what you produce the least of determines whether you win. Brot und Bier is a strategic game for 2 players. By playing cards, you harvest resources, improve your village, and sell beer and bread. Each card can be used in three different ways. Slide the card above the game board for a harvest, below the game board for a village expansion, or discard the card to sell beer and bread.

The way you get cards depends on the round. During a strong year, you pass hand cards back and forth, each time choosing a card to play. During a lean year, you have to make do with the cards you get, although you are allowed to exchange a limited number of cards with the exchange card field.

The player who has produced the most beer or bread after six rounds wins. But there's a small catch. What you have produced the least of determines your final score. So you lose if you have heavily invested in bread, while your beer production has remained very limited.
