Because it uses infrared heat, the image is always consistent, both during the day and in complete darkness. Difference with night vision goggles
The advantage over night vision equipment is that thermal imaging makes it easy to see if something (or someone) is in the woods. It also allows you to see heat trails, such as a car that just drove away or a handprint on a specific object. No light is needed at all to get a clear image with a thermal camera.

With a single press of a button, the hottest object is displayed in red. This makes it very easy to track the desired target.
