A 100% biodegradable alternative to plastic sponges. The Cleaning Pad fits neatly in the hand and when submerged in water, it swells into a soft, spongy and flexible pad. Lasts for months and can then be composted. Biodegradable and recyclable alternative to plastic scourers, brushes and sponges. Suitable for vegans. Handmade in Egypt. Scrubs when the sponge is dry. It is ideal for keeping the bathroom clean. The pad lasts for months and, when worn out, can be composted. Each pad has a handy cotton hanging loop. Flattened for transport to save space. How to use: Rinse well with water before first use. Use in warm water with detergent. To keep the loofah fresh between uses, squeeze out excess water, shake out any dirty bits and hang the pad to dry by the cotton loop. Occasionally wash in the washing machine or by hand for longer use. Product specifications Cleaning sponge - 1 Piece Item description Cleaning sponge Item number 5060175850553 Version 1 Piece Country of origin Egypt LoofCo products are inspired by cleaning methods that have been tried and tested for generations. Using this knowledge, the products are expertly designed and manufactured in Sri Lanka and Egypt. We ensure that local farmers and production workers have a good workplace and are treated fairly with wages and benefits, such as medical insurance, higher hourly wages than normal rates. No children are employed. LoofCo products are vegan. Some coconut producers use monkeys to help with their harvest. LoofCo coconuts are not harvested in this way and we are registered with the Vegan Society. Loofah plant is a vigorous growing plant from the cucumber family that is rich in durable fibers yet soft and flexible. When the fruit is ripe, the inside of the loofah fruit develops a network of fibers that are perfect for cleaning and scrubbing when dried. Our loofahs are harvested, peeled, seeded, then dried, cut into lengths and processed by hand in Egypt. This processing method is a natural tradition passed down through many generations. Coir is the naturally bacteria-resistant, fibrous material found between the hard, internal shell and the outer brown coconut husk. LoofCo uses coir that is a byproduct of coconut food and oil production that would otherwise be burned. We twist coconut coir around a 100% recyclable, galvanized stainless steel core and add a metal hanging loop for easy use and draining. Coir remains stiff when wet, holds liquids well and gives the coconut husk extra scrubbing power. Environmental information about Cleaning Sponge Our mission is to provide an alternative to mass-produced plastics such as dish brushes, scourers, sponges and other household products that are not biodegradable or made from recycled plastic. LoofCo farming practices are sustainable and meet the highest environmental standards. Coconut and Loofah are both renewable resources that absorb CO2 as they grow. Furthermore, we use coconut fibers and husks leftover from food and coconut oil production that would otherwise be wasted or burned. All elements of LoofCo products are 100% compostable and biodegradable, except for the metal core of the brushes which can be recycled. Our cardboard packaging is also recyclable. 100% plastic-free. Leaves no small plastic particles in the water.
