This crank puller is ideal for removing the crank from the bottom bracket. First, remove the locknut from the crank. Then, firmly tighten the crank puller into the threads of the crank. Then, using a ring/open-end wrench, tighten the inner bolt of the crank towards the bottom bracket. This will gradually release the crank from the bottom bracket.
