Pick-a-Pen: Gardens is a game in the Pick-a-Pen series by renowned author Reiner Knizia and features three progressively increasing levels of scoring. On scoring sheets 2 and 3, you'll find flowers and trees that can help you earn extra bonus points in various ways.
The Pick-a-Pen series is a new generation of innovative "Roll & Write" games, where pencils are actually rolled. This allows for a wide variety of game mechanics using the same playing material. But the central theme of every game is coloring in fields. Will you score the most points?
Fill gardens with a single color or five different ones. Add matching flowers and trees to score the most points!
You each have a score sheet of the same level, on which you color in the outlined gardens. The starting player first rolls all the pencils, each of which has a different color. The sides of these pencils have different numbers on them, indicating how many squares you can color in that color on your score sheet.
On your turn, choose a pencil and color in the indicated number of squares. These squares must be adjacent to each other, but also to the previously colored groups. Try to fill each garden with either one color or five different colors. If you succeed, you can color in bonus points on your sheet. The game ends when one player has completely colored in all their gardens or has failed to color in five times.
