It is also called frankincense oil or olibanum oil. The oil is obtained from the resin of the Indian frankincense tree and has a recognizable and typical scent. The oil is dark and slightly syrupy. It has traditionally been used to relieve mucus in the upper respiratory tract and in wound ointments. Frankincense is also often used as a perfume in care products.
