Using this knowledge, the products are expertly designed and manufactured in Sri Lanka and Egypt. We ensure that local farmers and production workers have a great place to work and are treated fairly with wages and benefits such as medical insurance, higher than normal hourly rates. We do not employ children. LoofCo products are vegan. Some coconut producers use monkeys to help with their harvest. LoofCo coconuts are not harvested this way and we are registered with the Vegan Society. The loofah plant is a vigorous growing plant in the cucumber family that is rich in sustainable fibers yet soft and flexible. When ripe, the inside of the loofah fruit develops a network of fibers that are perfect for cleaning and exfoliating when dried. Our loofahs are harvested, shelled, deseeded, dried, cut into lengths and hand-processed in Egypt. This method of processing is a natural tradition that has been passed down through many generations. Coconut Fiber is the naturally bacteria-resistant, fibrous material found between the hard, internal coconut shell and the outer brown husk. LoofCo uses coconut coir which is a byproduct of coconut feed and oil production that would otherwise be burned. We twist coconut coir around a 100% recyclable, galvanized stainless steel core and add a metal hanging loop for easy use and draining. Coconut coir stays stiff when wet, holds liquids well and gives the coconut husk extra scrubbing power. Environmental Information about Bottle Brush - Coir Our mission is to provide an alternative to mass produced plastic such as dish brushes, scouring pads, sponges and other household products that are not biodegradable or made from recycled plastic. LoofCo farming practices are sustainable and meet the highest environmental standards. Coconut and loofah are both renewable resources that absorb carbon dioxide as they grow. We also use coir and husks left over from feed and coconut oil production that would otherwise be wasted or burned. All elements of LoofCo products are 100% compostable and biodegradable, except for the metal core of the brushes which can be recycled. Our cardboard packaging is also recyclable. 100% plastic free. Does not leave small plastic particles in the water.
