The Hanoverian is a warmblood breed; warmbloods are a mix of light and heavy horses. It is one of the oldest and most numerous warmbloods. Its history dates back to the 17th century when Spanish, Oriental, and Neapolitan stallions were imported into Germany. They were bred with local mares, possibly with an early warhorse, and thus developed the Holsteiner. 16 x 3.5 x 11 centimeters in size.
