It's the so-called 'Argania Spinosa,' better known as the Argan tree. This beautiful tree bears various fruits. Argan oil is manually extracted from the kernels of these fruits. It is the richest oil available today. Argan oil is rich in vitamin E and antioxidants. This provides nourishing properties for the body and hair. The concentration of nutrients is 50% higher than in olive oil. It helps prevent wrinkles and firms, hydrates, and restores the skin from head to toe. It absorbs quickly and is economical to use. You don't need much of the oil to feel completely pampered. Because of its nourishing and healing properties, argan oil has a significant impact on the current oil market. Traditionally, argan oil is used in Morocco to treat various illnesses and annoying problems, such as acne, flaky skin, rheumatism and (burn) wounds that need a helping hand in healing. The latter are hand-cracked and the seed is extracted and ground into paste oil. It is traditionally made by local Berber women working in cooperatives. The only region in the world where the Argan tree (Argania Spinosa) grows is the Arganeraie in southwestern Morocco. The nuts are cracked by hand to extract the unique Argan oil. It's a true tradition, as the Berber women in this region have been engaged in producing this oil since time immemorial. Through fair trade, Argan oil offers Berber women a reliable source of income, a means to improve their financial independence, and opens the way to better access to healthcare and education. Argan oil is also called Moroccan gold because it works wonders for the skin, hair, and nails. Trading this oil benefits the locals. The Argan tree (Argania Spinosa) is found only in southwestern Morocco, making it one of the rarest trees in the world. The tree is a real tenacious tree and can live for 150 to 200 years. Its roots grow deep into the ground to search for water. These deep roots help the soil to hold together during heavy rains, preventing erosion and thus limiting desertification. Argan trees also play an important role in maintaining ecological balance, as well as ensuring a healthy economic situation for the population. The tree doesn't need to be cut down; it simply bears fruit, allowing residents to continue to enjoy it. They can use the fruit and wood in various ways and then trade it. In 1999, UNESCO therefore added the argan tree to the World Heritage List.
