The Ubbink Filtramax 12500 PlusSet is a closed filter system with modules for biological and mechanical cleaning. This pond filter set, which includes a UV-C pond cleaner and filter pump, is designed for ponds with a maximum capacity of 6,500 L/12,500 L (pond with fish/pond without fish).

The major advantage of this parallel system is that it can be expanded with one or even more Filtramax modules for larger ponds. Each module can individually filter its own volume of water and return the purified water to the pond. With the parallel system, a large volume of water is distributed across two, three, or more filters, ensuring efficient water purification in a short time. The dual-chamber filter system ensures thorough filtration and the development of nitrifying bacteria in an optimal environment!

Safety Advice WARNING: UV rays are hazardous to eyes and skin. The UV-C emitter must not be operated if it has been removed from the device housing! CAUTION: This device contains a UV-C emitter! Unintended use of the device or damage to the housing can result in the emission of hazardous UV-C radiation. UV-C radiation can damage eyes and skin, even in small doses. • The power supply must comply with the product specifications. Do not connect the device if the power supply does not meet the specified requirements! Further information can be obtained from your local approved electrician. • The Ubbink AlgClear UV-C device must only be operated via a residual current device (RCD) with a rated residual current of not more than 30 mA. For further information, please contact your specialist electronics dealer. • The Ubbink AlgClear UV-C device may only be put into operation after all components and hose connections have been fully installed. The device must never be used in water and must be installed next to the pond to prevent overflow. • The operation of the UV-C lamp may only be checked visually through the viewing window (on the front of the device). Direct contact with the UV-C rays can cause damage to the eyes and/or skin. • Transparent hoses must not be used to operate the AlgClear UV-C device. We recommend using our black spiral pond hose. Furthermore, the inlet and outlet hoses must be secured with hose clamps to prevent accidental disconnection from the hose nipple. • The device must be installed more than 2 m away from the pond or water basin and the electrical outlet. • To prevent the UV-C lamp from overheating, the AlgClear UV-C device must only be switched on when water is flowing through the housing. Never operate the UV-C lamp outside of the housing! • The device may only be operated at a water temperature of +5°C to +35°C. • It is essential to read the instruction manual before opening the AlgClear UV-C device. • The power to the AlgClear UV-C device must always be switched off before opening the device (for initial assembly, cleaning, installation, and replacement of the UV-C lamp, etc.). • The power cord cannot be replaced. If the cord is damaged, the AlgClear UV-C device must be discarded. • The device may be used by children aged from 8 years and above and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the device and understand the hazards involved. Children must not play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be made by children without supervision. • Keep children away from packaging material and small parts. There is a risk of suffocation. CAUTION! Before any intervention (initial assembly, cleaning, installing, and replacing the UV-C lamp, etc.), the power supply to the AlgClear UV-C device must always be disconnected! 1. Determine the location for the AlgClear UV-C device by taking into account the distance to the pond pump and any existing or planned pond filters. If, for example, a waterfall is present, the AlgClear UV-C device can also be connected at a higher location to allow the UV-C-irradiated water to flow back into the pond via the waterfall. 2. Before switching on the device, install the UVC lamp as described on page 2 of this manual: a) Unscrew the screw cap and remove it from the housing (Fig. 1.1 and 1.2). b) Click the UVC lamp into the base, place the protective cover on the glass of the UVC lamp, and reassemble the device (Fig. 1.3 – 1.6). 3. Secure the AlgClear UV-C device with a few stones to ensure stability and prevent it from falling into the water. Mounting it on a wooden plank is also possible. 4. Attach both mounting brackets to the AlgClear UV-C device with a clip and adjust it by simply turning it so that it can later be installed or screwed in horizontally or vertically. 5. Shorten the universal hose connectors according to the hose connections for the inlet (pump) and outlet (filter or pond return). 6. Screw the hose connectors onto the inlet and outlet connections. Hand-tightening is sufficient for a seal. Overtightening can have the opposite effect or even damage the AlgClear UV-C unit or the hose connector. 7. Shorten the pond hose to the required length. Secure the hose to the connectors with hose clamps. Ensure that the clamps do not damage the coils of the pond hose or create hairline cracks. If this does occur, shorten the hose by the length of the damaged section. Note: If leaks persist at the connection between the hose and the connector, you can stop them by wrapping commercially available Teflon tape around the connector. 8. Before starting the AlgClear UV-C unit, check that: - the sealing cap of the AlgClear UV-C unit is properly tightened, - the inlet and outlet connections of the AlgClear UV-C unit are hand-tight, - the hose connections between the filter pump and the pond filter or the return flow to the pond are secure, - the operating instructions for the AlgClear UV-C unit have been read and the safety advice has been followed. 9. After this, you can switch on the AlgClear UV-C device in the following order: - Always turn on the pond or filter pump first and check that the pond water flows smoothly through the AlgClear UV-C device and for any leaks. - Only then turn on the AlgClear UV-C device and check the operation of the UV-C lamp through the inspection window (on the front). There is no immediate danger; the harmful UV-C radiation does not penetrate the material. 10. Switching off the device, for example for maintenance, is done in the reverse order, i.e., always turn off the AlgClear UV-C device first and then the pond or pond filter pump. Maintenance CAUTION! The power supply must always be unplugged before any work is done (cleaning, installing, or replacing the UV-C lamp, etc.)! The AlgClear UV-C device should be cleaned at least twice a year, depending on the pond's level of pollution. If algae growth in your pond resumes, the quartz tube containing the UV-C lamp should be cleaned of dirt and limescale with a soft cloth moistened with a mild cleaning agent (e.g., vinegar solution). Avoid scratching the quartz glass and, if possible, avoid touching the glass tube directly with your hands. Even small traces of sweat and grease on the quartz glass can be burned into the glass by the UV-C radiation and subsequently reduce the performance of your AlgClear UV-C unit. The UV-C lamps installed in the AlgClear UV-C unit have a lifespan of approximately 5,000 operating hours. After this period, the UV-C performance will be so reduced that the UV-C lamp will need to be replaced. Suitable replacement lamps are available from your Ubbink specialist dealer. Maintain your AlgClear UV-C unit as follows: 1. Always turn off the AlgClear UV-C unit first and then the filter pump. 2. Disconnect the hose connection and drain the water from the AlgClear UV-C device. 3. Open the mounting clips and remove the AlgClear UV-C device from its mountings. 4. Remove the glass bulb as shown in the drawings on page 2 of this manual. a) Unscrew the screw cap and remove it along with the lamp (Figs. 1.1 and 1.2). b) Carefully remove the glass bulb using a 10 or 20 cent coin (Figs. 1.3A and 1.3B). 5. Clean the housing and replace the UV-C lamp if necessary. 6. After maintenance, reassemble everything in the reverse order. Ensure the sealing rings are correctly positioned inside. 7. Then turn the filter pump back on, followed by the AlgClear UV-C device.
