This UV-C lamp has several useful features. The transparent screw cap allows you to safely check the PL UV-C lamp by blocking your eyes from harmful UV-C radiation. For your safety, the ballast is equipped with a special shut-off function. When you replace the UV-C lamp, the ballast will automatically shut off once the lamp is removed.
The PL UV-C lamp has been further improved, increasing both its effective light output and lifespan by approximately 30% compared to previous models. The unit is used with a filtration system that has a separate compartment, meaning the UV-C radiation does not come into contact with the filter material. To maintain the effectiveness of this UV-C unit, the quartz glass should be cleaned at least three times a year.
Note: The 18W UV-C unit is compatible with the Cross-Flow Biofill, Giant Biofill XL and Clear Control 50 filter systems.
