Our ingredients

To make our food, we dry-cure 10.6 kg of meat for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to incorporate into our kibble. With the right amounts of vegetables, fruit, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-raised, grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh flavor and rich color, and it's packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is packed with health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together give our kibble its delicious flavor and aroma. The highly digestible proteins in the poultry promote healthy muscle growth and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

Spices

The healthy herbs that enrich our food are derived from plants grown in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and seaweed, among other things, goes back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its beneficial properties. Depending on the dog's size, breed, or breed group, specific ingredients are highlighted. Breed-specific ailments can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Gordon setter specific vegetables, herbs and fruits

We carefully researched the Gordon Setter's breed characteristics. We also investigated the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Gordon Setter belongs. Based on this research, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, we selected ingredients that optimally benefit the Gordon Setter's health and well-being.

Marigold

The marigold (calendula) is a plant that, like goldenrod, belongs to the Asteraceae family. Calendula is a cultivated flower; it has been used for centuries for its various medicinal properties. The original calendula species probably grew in Asia and Eastern Europe, but this field marigold is rarely found in the wild anymore. Marigold is also an edible plant for humans and is rich in nutrients.

There's a lot of information available about the positive effects of calendula. We recommend adding calendula to dog food because it can help prevent breed-specific problems related to the skin, mouth, throat, digestion, eyes, and feet. It's particularly beneficial for restoring skin and mucous membranes, has anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties, and can prevent cramps during digestion.

Calendula is primarily used externally for skin conditions such as scratches and other skin problems. However, it can also be used internally for its regenerative properties.

Nettle

Nettle is a genus of plants, including the common nettle and the small nettle, found in the Netherlands and Belgium. Nettle is known for its cleansing and blood-purifying properties. According to various sources, nettle is bactericidal and therefore very effective against infectious diseases. The leaves are also effective against diarrhea and other digestive disorders.

Nettle supports liver and kidney function by stimulating the breakdown of waste products. It also supports bladder health and promotes hair growth in dogs.

Nettle also contains silicic acid, also known as silicon. This is a building block that forms part of connective tissue in bones, tendons, ligaments, skin, hair, and nails. Silicon supports the natural production of skin cells and helps maintain healthy skin.

At Yourdog, we add nettle to our dog food because it can positively contribute to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the dog's coat, skin, and bones, as well as to preventing digestive and/or urination problems.

Mango

Mango belongs to the Mangifera genus and likely originates from northeastern India and Southeast Asia. It is a drupe with varying shapes and grows on a tree that can reach a height of 40 meters.

This delicious summer treat is packed with essential vitamins and minerals. It contains vitamins A, B6, C, and E, and is rich in potassium, beta-carotene, and alpha-carotene. Mango also contains plenty of healthy fiber, which helps strengthen the immune system and digestion. The natural antioxidant vitamin C helps support vital bodily functions. Vitamin A is packed with beta-carotene, which can help maintain and improve vision.

Puppy, adult or senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Gordon Setter dog food options, you can use the following guidelines. If your Gordon Setter is under 11 months old, choose the Puppy option. For a Gordon Setter over 7 years old, we recommend Yourdog Gordon Setter Senior. If your dog is over 11 months old but under 7 years old, choose the Adult option.

Nutritional advice

Switching advice

If you're switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we recommend following these steps. First, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. Your dog can get used to this for two days. Then, feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It's important to let your dog get used to this for two or three days as well. Then, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. Your dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Continue this for two days. After this, you can switch to 100% Yourdog Gordon Setter dog food at your own discretion.

Storage advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and flavor. Therefore, it's important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight container or barrel in a dry, cool, and dark place. It's best not to put the food loose in the barrel, but to place the entire bag inside, sealing it as tightly as possible.
