Our ingredients

To make our food, we dry-cure 10.6 kg of meat for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to incorporate into our kibble. With the right amounts of vegetables, fruit, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-raised, grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh flavor and rich color, and it's packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is packed with health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together give our kibble its delicious flavor and aroma. The highly digestible proteins in the poultry promote healthy muscle growth and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

The healthy herbs that enrich our food are derived from plants grown in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and seaweed, among other things, goes back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its beneficial properties. Depending on the dog's size, breed, or breed group, specific ingredients are highlighted. Breed-specific ailments can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Rhodesian Ridgeback. We have also investigated the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Rhodesian Ridgeback belongs. Based on this research, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, we have selected ingredients that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Rhodesian Ridgeback.

Cranberry

The cranberry is a plant in the heather family. In the Netherlands, it is primarily found on the Wadden Islands and is very rare elsewhere in the country. Originally from North America, the plant is believed to have first arrived in the Netherlands around 1845.

Cranberries contain a unique blend of nutrients that can provide a powerful health boost for dogs. The berries are rich in minerals like potassium, which helps maintain healthy levels of vital fluids in the body. They're also packed with vitamins A, B, and C, as well as antioxidants to support the immune system. Vitamin C makes urine more acidic, making the bladder environment less conducive to bacteria. Adding cranberries can also have pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects. The healthy fiber in cranberries supports healthy digestion and helps dogs feel full longer.

Yucca

This plant grows in the deserts of Southwest America and Northern Mexico. The roots of the yucca have been used for centuries by Native Americans in these regions as a medicine for rheumatism and arthritis. It reduces pain and inflammation in the joints.

Yucca can be added to our dog food because it may positively contribute to preventing breed-specific complaints related to rheumatism, arthritis, osteoarthritis, the intestines, and the heart. Yucca can also help reduce stool odor and alleviate foul-smelling gas.

Nettle

Nettle is a genus of plants, including the common nettle and the small nettle, found in the Netherlands and Belgium. Nettle is known for its cleansing and blood-purifying properties. According to various sources, nettle is bactericidal and therefore very effective against infectious diseases. The leaves are also effective against diarrhea and other digestive disorders.

Nettle supports liver and kidney function by stimulating the breakdown of waste products. It also supports bladder health and promotes hair growth in dogs.

Nettle also contains silicic acid, also known as silicon. This is a building block that forms part of connective tissue in bones, tendons, ligaments, skin, hair, and nails. Silicon supports the natural production of skin cells and helps maintain healthy skin.

At Yourdog, we add nettle to our dog food because it can positively contribute to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the dog's coat, skin, and bones, as well as to preventing digestive and/or urination problems.

Puppy, adult or senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Rhodesian Ridgeback dog food options, you can use the following guidelines. If your Rhodesian Ridgeback is under 11 months old, choose the Puppy option. For a Rhodesian Ridgeback over 7 years old, we recommend Yourdog Rhodesian Ridgeback Senior. If your dog is over 11 months old but under 7 years old, choose the Adult option.

Nutritional advice

Switching advice

If you're switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we recommend following these steps. First, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. Your dog can get used to this for two days. Then, feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It's important to let your dog get used to this for two or three days as well. Then, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. Your dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Continue this for two days. After this, you can switch to 100% Yourdog Rhodesian Ridgeback dog food at your own discretion.

Storage advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and flavor. Therefore, it's important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight container or barrel in a dry, cool, and dark place. It's best not to put the food loose in the barrel, but to place the entire bag inside, sealing it as tightly as possible.
