Our ingredients

To make our food, we dry-cure 10.6 kg of meat for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to incorporate into our kibble. With the right amounts of vegetables, fruit, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-raised, grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh flavor and rich color, and it's packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is packed with health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together give our kibble its delicious flavor and aroma. The highly digestible proteins in the poultry promote healthy muscle growth and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

To provide your dog with extra valuable nutrients, we've added super-healthy vegetables to our food. This means vegetables are not only nutritious but also offer other health benefits. The crude fiber in vegetables is good for the intestines and can contribute to digestion, among other things.

We add a unique combination of fruits to Yourdog, providing your dog with all the essential, natural antioxidants. Fruit can be beneficial for your dog's immune system, but it can also contribute to fresh breath and healthy digestion. These natural ingredients promote your dog's overall health.

Spices

The healthy herbs that enrich our food are derived from plants grown in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and seaweed, among other things, goes back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its beneficial properties. Depending on the dog's size, breed, or breed group, specific ingredients are highlighted. Breed-specific ailments can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Leonberger specific vegetables, herbs and fruits

We have carefully researched the Leonberger's breed characteristics. We have also investigated the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Leonberger belongs. Based on this research, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, we have selected ingredients that optimally benefit the Leonberger's health and well-being.

Spirulina

Spirulina is a nutritional supplement with exceptionally high nutritional value, made from blue-green algae found in tropical and subtropical regions. It belongs to the microalgae family. Did you know that spirulina can be grown in space and is 60 to 70% protein?

It's rich in vitamins, including B12, minerals such as calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium, and potassium, and all essential amino acids. Spirulina can contribute to your dog's overall health and well-being. It can also support the immune system and promote healthy skin and a shiny coat. The algae also has a detoxifying effect and promotes digestion.

Glucosamine

Glucosamine is a naturally occurring substance found in joints, cartilage, synovial fluid, and tendons. It stimulates the production of cartilage and keeps joints supple.

Glucosamine is one of the most commonly used supplements for dogs with osteoarthritis and/or joint problems. This is not only the case for older dogs or overweight dogs, but also increasingly for younger, very active dogs. This can be due, for example, to a hereditary predisposition to joint problems. For these and other reasons, glucosamine is added to our dog food.

Tomato

The tomato is part of the nightshade family and comes from the tomato plant, originally from Mesoamerica. Smaller varieties were cultivated in Mesoamerica by the Aztecs and Mayans. In 1893, the American government decided that the fruit should be considered a vegetable.

At Yourdog we use tomatoes at a culinary level, considering tomatoes as a vegetable.

Tomatoes are rich in nutrients, low in calories, and have a high soluble fiber content, which aids digestion. Tomatoes also contain lycopene, which gives them their red color. The redder a tomato, the more lycopene it contains. Besides giving tomatoes their red color, it's also known as a powerful antioxidant. Research has shown that lycopene can protect against cancer and cardiovascular disease, among other things. Tomatoes also contain high levels of vitamin C, vitamins A, and B complex vitamins, which can contribute to healthy skin and a stronger immune system.

Tomatoes are added to our dog food because they may contribute positively to preventing breed-specific problems related to digestion, skin, vision, and cardiovascular disease. They can also have a general cleansing effect on the body.

Puppy, adult or senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Leonberger dog food options, you can use the following guidelines. If your Leonberger is under 11 months old, choose the Puppy option. For a Leonberger over 7 years old, we recommend the Yourdog Leonberger Senior. If your dog is over 11 months old but under 7 years old, you can choose the Adult option.

Nutritional advice

Switching advice

If you're switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we recommend following these steps. First, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. Your dog can get used to this for two days. Then, feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It's important to let your dog get used to this for two or three days as well. Finally, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. Your dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Continue this for two days. After this, you can switch to 100% Yourdog Leonberger dog food at your own discretion.

Storage advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and flavor. Therefore, it's important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight container or barrel in a dry, cool, and dark place. It's best not to put the food loose in the barrel, but to place the entire bag inside, sealing it as tightly as possible.
