The rim joint is welded and then milled over to achieve an even braking surface. SUP prevents any brake judder and facilitates spoking and centring of the wheel. ISM 4D The ISM 4D (Inter Spoke Milling 4 Dimensions) milling process noticeably reduces weight and inertia without sacrificing durability. Mavic's exclusive patent also provides better aerodynamics with its new rim profile. ISM 4D rims are up to 50 g lighter and therefore offer more climbing performance. Their minimal inertia leads to maximum acceleration. Their extra aerodynamic rim profile results in significantly lower air resistance.
