Soap disrupts the naturally slightly acidic environment of the skin, as quark soap, for example, has a basic pH of 8.5 to 9.0 and also degreases the skin. If emulsifying bile salts are added to this, skin-friendly cleansing is no longer possible. Bile soap was developed for removing grease and protein stains from textiles and, like bile acid, is not intended for skin care. Therefore, bile soap has not been tested for skin compatibility, as the product is not designed for human skin. Tabori generally advises against experimenting on your own skin to avoid unnecessarily increasing the risk of allergies and skin irritations: "The less skin contact there is, the more natural it is. It's best to cleanse with water and a very mild, pH-neutral product without fragrances, dyes, or preservatives." In an emergency, spitting is a good alternative.
