Connected devices are automatically switched off after a certain time, which you set yourself. The timer has an earth contact connection (the socket for a 'normal' plug), a USB-A port and a USB-C port. The countdown time can be set separately for all three inputs.  The timer counts down from at least 15 minutes to 8 hours, in 7 steps (15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours, 8 hours).  The timer has an internal memory so that the last set time can be reset at the push of a button (when the timer itself has not been disconnected from the power network).  What is the advantage of a time switch? By setting a timer you prevent devices such as mobile phones or laptops from overcharging, thus extending the life of the battery.
