Drama about a clash between culture and independence in an ancient Chinese society. For her 40th birthday, Mrs. Wu gives her husband a mistress as a gift to end her sexual ties with her husband. In doing so, she goes against thousands of years of tradition, with all the consequences that entails. With, among others, William Dafoe (Platoon, Body of Evidence). 'Pavilion of Women' is already called the first Chinese Hollywood film and is based on a novel by Pearl Buck. The film is produced by Luo Yan who stars alongside William Dafoe ('Shadow of the Vampire'). The film was shot in both China and England and, in addition to some Mandarin Chinese, is spoken entirely in English.
