Description
Joel McCrea plays the local farmhand who is about to lose his best friend and the woman he loves in a confrontation with a ruthless gang of cattle thieves. When Molly Wood (Barbara Britton), a well -trained lady from the east, arrives in a town in Wyoming to replace the school teacher, the Virginian (McCrea) and his best friend Steve (Sonny Tufts) immediately feel attracted. Both do their best to win her. Hoping to earn money in a quick way, Steve ignores his friend's warnings and joins the corrupt gang of Trampas (Brian Donlevy). He is caught stealing cattle. The Virginian must choose between his friend and compliance with the strict laws of the West. If he is shot down on the cruel gang leader during a chase, chances are he will lose Molly. She is hurled back and forth between her tendency to flee the bandless West and the love for her cowboy.
