To extend the life of your new disc brake pads, it's important to bed them in properly. While riding, gently pull the brake lever and ensure the pads are in contact with the rotor. Ride for about 100 meters at a speed of 25 kilometers per hour (15.5 mph), then brake harder at the end to reduce your speed to about 5 kilometers per hour (3 mph). Repeat this process 10 to 12 times to ensure your new brake pads are properly bedded in.
