This hair soap is especially suitable for long hair. For this herbal shampoo, we make extracts of hops, calendula, nettle, and nasturtium from our forest garden, along with a macerate of organic ginger from Het Blauwe Huis. The blend of essential oils is formulated to support your scalp, and the soap base consists of wonderfully nourishing oils like shea butter, jojoba, and olive oil. This is truly a worthy addition to our all-time favorite shampoo! But even more suitable for long hair and completely vegan, as this version does not contain heather honey. Even if you're just switching from regular shampoo to natural hair soap, it might not feel smooth right away. This can be due to previous hair products; they often contain silicones, which give your hair shine and a smooth finish, and you wash that out slowly with natural hair soap. Before it's completely washed away, it can feel a bit greasy. Your scalp sometimes needs some time to adjust and regulate its sebum production; this happens naturally. Werfzeep shampoo reacts differently to all hair types—uncolored or dyed, dry or oily, short or long, blond or dark. People with very long and/or dyed hair sometimes have some difficulty with it. During a trip through Canada that she and Laurens took, she ended up on an idyllic family farm where, among other things, soap was made with a ladle and a huge pot. The wooden house smelled magically wonderful, and on the very first day, Evelien helped make soap. To her surprise, this handmade soap, which was in the shower and by the sink, was soft and nourishing for her skin. Troubled with eczema from a young age, soap had been a no-go for years, but this soap proved to be a completely different story than anything she had encountered before, which mainly left her with tight skin. Soap made from oils is a completely different product than factory-made soap made from refined fatty acids, with additives such as foam enhancers, synthetic perfumes, and preservatives, from which the glycerin has also been skimmed. This discovery was enough for Evelien to become completely captivated by soap, the artisanal soap-making process, all its possible ingredients, and its effects on the skin. She began developing her soaps in a historic wharf cellar on Utrecht's Oudegracht canal. Now, eight years later, she works with a growing team in the beautiful soap studio on Westerkade.
