John Savage (whose credits include Deer Hunter and The Godfather) plays the mentally ill Albert. Albert is serving a long sentence in one of the toughest psychiatric hospitals after murdering Annie's mother in cold blood. Annie, however, remains an obsession, and it only gets worse. Completely insane, Albert thinks of one thing: HIS little Annie. The director of the hospital (Dr. Sachs) tries in vain to prevent Albert's release, but the state declares he has served his sentence, and Albert immediately sets out to find his Annie, now 32 years old. He frantically visits every Annie he can find in the phone book, and when it turns out each time it's not his, he murders the innocent women. Finally, he finds his little Annie, but Albert is so incensed that his little Annie is now a grown, independent woman that he murders her too and kidnaps her niece. The police are now on his heels, and a dangerous and intriguing psychological game begins between Albert on the one hand, the police, and Dr. Sachs on the other.
