A bicycle pedal with a "non-slip" insert on both sides made of patented SANDBLOCK® material, a durable polypropylene axle housing and cage, specially designed for use on electric bicycles. Can also be used on city, trekking and hybrid bicycles. Features: The "lightweight" ball bearing system provides a significant saving in weight and height. The pedals are each equipped with integrated approved reflectors on both sides and a closed bearing system. Pedal type "3 component pedal", which consists of:
  • a cast aluminum axle housing, polished to a high gloss or black (electro-dyed black)
  • the pedal cage is made of black polypropylene
  • The extra-large "anti-slip" insert in the cage is made of gray TPE (thermoplastic elastomer). Ball bearing

The material's anti-slip properties are guaranteed, even when wet or stained with oil or grease. This anti-slip insert is inseparable from the pedal thanks to a special, waterproof technology. UNION SANDBLOCK® pedals feature an extra-large anti-slip insert (for more direct contact with the cyclist's shoe) and are specially designed for use on e-bikes. The advantages of this high-quality SANDBLOCK® anti-slip insert are:
  • A very good anti-slip function, much better than that of the usual TPR (rubber) insert
  • Significantly more wear resistance compared to the usual TPR (rubber) insert
  • The anti-slip function remains optimal, even when the material surface is wet or stained with oil or grease. The SANDBLOCK® anti-slip surfaces are highly wear-resistant, water-resistant, and firmly bonded to the robust polypropylene cage of the pedal using a new, patented technology. Compared to the self-adhesive sandpaper versions of pedals used, this strong bond is waterproof and cannot be separated or removed from the pedal. Technical details and test results:
  • Various laboratory tests prove that the SANDBLOCK® cannot be separated or removed from the pedal cage, even when using tools.
  • The anti-slip function of the SANDBLOCK® has much better performance than the standard anti-slip material made of sandpaper
  • An anti-slip durability test shows that with a load of 30 kg and at 10,000 cycles, the material wears off only 0.25 mm
  • When using standard sandpaper, this already shows signs of wear after 20 cycles. SANDBLOCK® does not do this.
  • Standard sandpaper is easily separated from the pedal's polypropylene cage. This isn't the case with SANDBLOCK®. By using SANDBLOCK® material instead of TPR or standard sandpaper, these UNION pedals offer an even higher level of safety for cyclists in all weather conditions.
